Has anyone here heard of MADASAFISH ?

Hi all, I am very confused ?
Today I phoned the PlusNet sales team to convert my 92 year old mum, from BT phone to PlusNet phone, no internet required, it did look to be a lot cheaper, with free anytime minutes and rental for £15.99 a month
I was expecting at least a 50p referral discount, but alas that wasnt to be !
However I was very severely taken by suprise when I got my mums new account confirmation details in several emails, when I found I had signed my mum up with MADASAFISH a company I had never heard of before !
I am dammed sure the PlusNet sales team never mentioned that word, it sounds like A joke !
And I see that they are owned by BT the same BT that own PlusNet !
All very strange ? I wonder why I wasnt told ? About MADASAFISH, I first thought the emails from them was spam or at worst a potential virus !!!!

Re: Has anyone here heard of MADASAFISH ?

Ther's no need for concern, Madasafish comes under the Plusnet banner and is supported by the same staff. You'll find the logo along with Plusnet, Force9, and others in the right-hand column of this Community site Home page (below the Forum Stats).
Plusnet (brand) does not normally offer Home Phone products on their own whereas I believe Madasafish do. So that could be why the account information is headed Madasafish.

Ah, ok thanks, very reassuring, its a shame I dont get a referall discount though !
I probably wouldnt have bothered changing my mums supplier to Plus Net if I had known, so how come it is much cheaper ?

Re: Has anyone here heard of MADASAFISH ?

Hi timmytoad,
It does sound like she was signed up to MAAF as a phone only account.
As for the cheap price of the line rental, it's not been subjected to a price review as we're generally intending on retiring the company and migrating all end users over to Plusnet.

Matty, so does this mean a hike in line rental ,once these customers are migrated over to PN?
What a hike it would be: Madasafish line rental with evening and weekend call £11.99 , PN £17.95

Re: Has anyone here heard of MADASAFISH ?

When I say migrating users over to Plusnet, I was referring to customers that requested new packages.
We wouldn't migrate anybody over forcibly, and we are letting MAAF customers run their course until they no longer need the service.

Re: Has anyone here heard of MADASAFISH ?

Thank you all for clearing that up for me.  I did wonder if Madasafish allowed paying the rental 12 months in advance to make the rental cost even cheaper, but I guess as it is already very cheap they won't even consider it ?

They don't offer it I'm afraid.
It really is the pure basics when it comes to MAAF.
