Thanks...

The number you are searching for may be ex-directory or the surname may not be based in or around the location you have searched"

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

Hi
I've been getting daily calls from people claiming there are 'problems' with my computer. On the most recent call I resorted to swearing at them, but I'm doubtful that it will stop the calls  Sad .
Could I please have my number changed to ex-directory? Thanks

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

Keep them talking for as long as possible, play dumb when they give you instructions, appear to be cooperating but waste their time. After a reasonable time doing this admit what you are up to and tell them you are doing it to prevent them calling other people. That should make them put a black mark against your number and mean they avoid calling you again.

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

Hi mikey99p,
Sorry we didn't get back to you sooner.  I have checked your account and can see that one of my colleagues has placed the order to change your line to ex-directory today.  This order will complete on 12/08/11.
Any issues please let us know.

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

Hi
I have moved to plusnet today,
My number has always been ex directory and is not in the latest BT Phone book for my area.
However on checking the online version it appears..........
would BT have added it so quickly?
http://www.btexchanges.com/
How can I confirm that my telephone number gets  unlisted status and is deleted from BT on line version and any printed future copies ?
Regards
Simon

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

On moving to Plusnet your ex-directory status is MEANT TO remain unchanged though I seem to recall there have been instances of this not being the case in the past.
Raise a ticket requiring Plusnet to make you ex-directory.

Hi pennbank,
My colleagues in our provisioning team will check the directory status of your line and make changes if necessary which should prevent any further publishing.

Hi faulknerm88,
You weren't ex directory but I've placed an order to have it so. I've sent you a ticket confirming this.
Jojo Smiley

Hi JoJo,
A few days my new phone with PlusNet, already getting silent calls.
From same number.
Can you please make me Ex Directory and CLI number with-held, as I originally asked for, when I signed up.
Thanks

From another Forum.....
Much more likely to be via BT - particularly as their "Help Desk"
service is contracted out to HCL Technologies in India. These people
have access to customer and Openreach line data.
My money's on data theft from the Indian end.

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

It's worth bearing in mind that there are two different types of ex-directory.
One removes you from the phone book and online directories.
One just from the phone book.
It's possible that your was the latter?

I don't think it was an ex-directory issue, that was quoted to put into context why I wanted XD.
More likely BT / Openreach sold on my number, or it was passed out for money in India.
Again 2 days when issued.

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

I can't see the point of XD numbers, it doesn't stop random diallers. If I am paying for a service I want the whole service. I have on several occasions had the need to call club members who are XD with last minute information and was unable to do so, their loss I am afraid.
My bank branch is not in the BT directory, the only way I could get their number was to Google the branch, so the BT directory is not infallible.
