Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

Quote
have been told, on questioning this very thing, that old telephone numbers are used for new customers ( recycling!) and my particular number was not blocked!!! I mentioned it might be a good thing to mention this to new customers, as the number of cold calls in the first week go into double figures!!!. I have now disconnected my phone until the TPS kicks in - I'll continue to use my lovely mobile thank you! I was advised to register on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) on the web, which is free- but can take 30 days to be any use. But no mention of the fact that you can CHOOSE to go ex directory once you are a customer, so why has Jojo from PN mentioned that you can?

Hi Lulubelle54,
It is true that old phone numbers are reused (some exchanges don't have "new" phone numbers) however, they are generally "dormant" for 6 months before being used again. So the chances of someone getting flooded with calls when they sign up are relatively slim, but obviously we would give you advice of what you can do if you have those kind of problems.
We currently, as per clause 1.4 of our phone service terms and conditions will place orders, by default, with entries into the telephone directory.  I fully appreciate that there is currently no option to request to be made ex-directory, which is something I am currently looking into as I fully understand that in the current age of information security where privacy concerns are rife, a large number of people do not wish to be entered into the telephone book or online directories.

Thanks

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

I have just spoken to Technical support who tell me that a permanent Withhold of my telephone number is not provided by Plusnet.
So how can JoJo say it is an option? Angry

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

I'm sure that Joanne will be happy to sort this out for you when she gets into the office.
I suspect that the confusion will have arisen as this isn't a feature that we formally offer, but that doesn't mean that it can't be done.

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

Thanks James Smiley
Hi mjh17215,
As James said it's not one of our call features, so not all call center agents will know of its availability and most will not have access to the provisioning interface that it's ordered through. I'll place that for you and send you a confirmation email when I've placed it.

Hi faulknerm88,
You weren't ex directory but I've placed an order to have it so. I've sent you a ticket confirming this.
Jojo Smiley

Hi JoJo,
A few days my new phone with PlusNet, already getting silent calls.
From same number.
Can you please make me Ex Directory and CLI number with-held, as I originally asked for, when I signed up.
Thanks

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

Hi there,
The number was set for no directory entry, but I've placed an order to withold the CLI for you (you'll be able to circumvent this if you wish to by dialling 1470 before you dial the number you want to call).
Hope that helps,

Re: Ex-Directory and blocking outgoing CLI

Thanks, CLI block now working.
How does one check the number is actually ex-directory, without ringing directory enquiries ?
