This is free http://www.bt.com/index.jsp
You may need to use advance search to cut down the results

Re: Directory Enquiries- any cheap versions recommended ?

If you are looking for a "local number" say , " fitness centre"  Margate (or where you live)  and you know the name, if you just google for it, you could find the phone number is also listed.... if you "google maps"  it, you will get the alternatives too !

EDIT....
And make sure you have this  http://www.saynoto0870.com/
in your Favourites/Bookmark list...... useful for alternative numbers not on high rates...
Surprising how many have "ordinary" phone numbers that you can call.....
