Re: Cost of calling 0844 numbers

have you checked the sticky on the top of this board - post 5 gives useful links

Can I confirm the correct place to look this information up in advance of a call.
Charge rates from http://www.bt.com/pricing/current/Call_Charges_boo/1632_d0e5.htm
As I understand this to be set by BT?
Tariff at https://portal.plus.net/home-broadband/tariffs/ then gets to the actual cost.
01,02,03,0845,0870 numbers are all included in call plans
Cheers

Please accept that I am as thick as two short planks. What is the 'sticky at the top of this board'?

'Jargon' from the 'residents'.
This board is the 'home phone' section of the forums: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/board,5.0.html
The top topic listed has been 'made sticky' by the moderators so that it remains at the top of the list due to its importance / usefulness, the star symbol identifies that (key at the bottom of the page), it's incredibly easy to forget that not everyone is familiar with 'forum speak'

Re: Cost of calling 0844 numbers

Must admit very disappointed 0844 numbers are charged for.
I always thought that 0845 and 0844 were free. Many businesses now changing to 0844 on this basis and I find £5 or 6 worth of calls on my bill I didn't expect.
Very unhappy about Plusnets charging policy regarding 0844's.

I'm sorry you feel that way however I'm not aware of a provider that does cover 0844 calls for free.

Re: Cost of calling 0844 numbers

There is a very good website: Saynoto0870, it gives alternative numbers for 0870,0845 and 0844.
All you do is click on the search to find alternative numbers and put the number in the box or put the name of the company.
I use this and find it very useful.

Re: Cost of calling 0844 numbers

Absolutely! A very useful tool.
I have found recently, though, that many numbers are out of date.
On the other hand many of the companies I need to contact have moved over to 03 numbers which are charged at local rates and are part of any inclusive calls. Unfortunately they do not always make these obvious Sad

Re: Cost of calling 0844 numbers

its like a dog chasing its tail.
SP's make 0845 inclusive so businesses move to 0844, which in turn makes the value of free 0845 questionable.
