Cost of 118 118 call - £6.75 for 120 seconds

Hello,
I was shocked to see on my bill that I was charged £6.75 for using the 118 118 service for just (exactly) 2 minutes!
The 118.com website (in the footer) says:
"Most landlines 79p per call plus £1.79 per minute (minimum 60 second charge). Other networks may vary."
If plusnet homephone is "most landlines" then that would be 79+179 = £2.58.
So who is pulling a fast one here?  118118 or plusnet homephone?
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Cost of 118 118 call - £6.75 for 120 seconds

We've been looking into this recently on a different thread. The Wholesale cost we get charged is significantly more than the charge they quote on their website, so it's going to cost more than that with the majority of providers. Have you (or anyone else reading this thread) tried using 118500 or similar?

Apologies for raising a new thread and thanks for your reply.
I've not tried 118 500 although I am familiar with the number.  At the time, I just wanted a number quickly - a number that 118 118 weren't able to provide me!  Hunting around tarifs for different service providers wasn't in my mind when using the service.  In future I will avoid this service at ALL costs.
I've posted my comment to the end of the existing thread and will follow that instead.
