Charging clarity for 0845 calls

If you're not on an inclusive calls package, how on earth does user know what they'll be charged for the 0845 calls by looking at PN Tariffs?

Re: Charging clarity for 0845 calls

The best guide to advise on call charges is https://www.plus.net/help/legal/residential-phone-tariffs/

Service numbers are defined as calls to non-geographic numbers such as Premium Rate services, Directory Enquiries and calls to Internet Services. The charge for calls to service numbers beginning 084, 087, 09 and 118 consists of a 9.58p per minute access charge from Plusnet, plus a service charge set by the company you called.

I believe the company you call are required to advise on their charge.

This is my personal Community Forum account to help out around these parts while I'm at home. If I'm posting from the 1st March 2020, this means I'm off-duty with no access to internal systems.

Re: Charging clarity for 0845 calls

Not much clarity still; extract I posted Anoush was from:

https://www.plus.net/help/legal/service-number-call-rates/
which leads off from URL you penned.

How does one know when dialling an 0845 prefix number, what charge rate applies until bill arrives!!

Is there a clue in first few digits after the 0845 prefix?Huh

Re: Charging clarity for 0845 calls

All users of 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers are required by Ofcom to state the call charges immediately adjacent to the number, wherever the number is advertised or promoted. This includes on websites, social media messages, brochures, catalogues, in radio, TV, online and print advertising and on signage, etc.

Where an organisation fails to do this, breaches of the regulations can, and should, be reported to ASA. If it is an 087, 09 or 118 number it can also be reported to PSA.

Browsing through the ASA adjudications detailed on the ASA website it would appear that ASA have received ZERO complaints about this since the regulations came into force on 1 July 2015.
