Change my landline number

I'm having a few nuisance calls, nothing serious or criminal, just people I cant be bothered with any more.

Would there be much disruption changing the number?

How long would it take and what happens to the old number?

Re: Change my landline number

Hi @davey1690

Sorry to hear this.

You may not have to jump to that decision just yet (though if you want to, we can certainly help).

Have you looked at our Plusnet Call Protect feature? here is a link to more info about this. It’s completely free of charge and blocks nuisance calls on your landline, sending them straight to junk voicemail (where they belong!).

Essentially, you are able to;

  • Automatically block calls from Plusnet’s list of known nuisance callers, which is updated regularly to send as many of those pesky nuisance calls as possible to junk voicemail
  • Create your own personal list of up to 100 nuisance numbers that you can select and maintain
  • Choose to divert specific types of numbers to junk voicemail, such as international numbers, withheld numbers and unavailable numbers

Plusnet Call Protect can be added through the Home Phone Control Panel in Member Centre by selecting ‘Plusnet Call Protect’ from the list.

Should you wish to change your number, let me know and I'll send you a ticket to your account explaining this process.

Thanks,

MoR

No, the junk voicemail is too obvious, I want people to think I no longer have a phone number not that I am being spiteful and snubbing them.

Re: Change my landline number

@davey1690 - ok, I see what you mean.

We can change your number for you to a competently auto generated one which is available through our suppliers.

This would be at a charge of £36.63.

If you want to go ahead with this let me know and i'll get the ball rolling.

Thanks,

MoR

@davey1690 - i forgot to answer the above - sorry.

Your old number goes back into a "pot" as it were to be used again.

There would be no disruption, the change would take effect within  24 working hours.

Thanks,

MoR

That's good to know - so much better than those incompetently manually generated numbers. Wink
