Cancelling an engineer - 30 min wait

I need to cancel a BT engineer as nobody can be home but it is a 30 min plus wait on the phones and no one available on live chat.  Is there another way?

I think perhaps Plusnet should stop advertising - they clearly have too many customers and not enough staff  - I waited 30 mins when I called last time.
