Calls to 00800 numbers

Are calls to 00800 / +800 numbers (some type of international freephone) free from Plusnet phones?
I can't find any category that they could fit into.

Re: Calls to 00800 numbers

No, USA is +1 or 001.
According to Wikipedia, it is an Universal International Freephone Number: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toll-free_telephone_number#Universal_International_Freephone_numbers
I've heard some companies charge to call these numbers, hence why I'm interested in knowing what Plusnet charge.

I can't find a record for those calls, which means we've either never processed one, or that BT Wholesale don't charge us for it.
I can ask them about costs, but won't get an answer this side of next Wednesday I'm afraid.

Re: Calls to 00800 numbers

Wednesday is fine as the company I need to call aren't open until Monday 17th January Smiley
I've only ever seen one of these numbers once before: when I needed to call Microsoft to activate a product after my internet connection failed.  The call wasn't charged by TalkTalk, but certainly did appear on the bill as an international call with a cost of 0p.  The package we had included free international calls, so I assume it would have been charged if we didn't have this.

Yeah, sorry, meant to come back here last week but it was a bit manic.
We don't get charged for these calls, so neither will you. They won't appear on your bill either though.

Re: Calls to 00800 numbers

00800x is not the US, it's international free numbers.
You need 001800x is what you need.  However, the call won't be free, and actually some providers (US providers) won't allow you to call the numbers from abroad.

Skype allows you to call toll-free numbers in the US for free.
