Re: Call charges to 118118

Our Commercial Team state that they regularly review the details of our contracts with our suppliers, among them the rates we pay for dq calls. At the moment they do not have any planned changes for the price of this destination but always make sure that we work hard to get the best deal for our customers.

Re: Call charges to 118118

'Maureen 118212' are currently running a radio ad with the wording:
'Calls to 118 212 cost 79p per call plus £1.79 per minute (minimum 1 minute charge) from BT landlines, mobile rates and network availability may vary.'
No mention of other fixed network charges - Reported to ASA, awaiting response.

Re: Call charges to 118118

To resurrect an old thread
I just read this in the Times this morning
Quote
Expensive emergency call
I reported a gas leak on a busy main road near a bus stop. I was away from home and only had my mobile — this was urgent, lives could be lost. So I dialled 118 118 and got charged £17.23 for the call. Three, my phone company, blamed BT for the excess cost. BT said they couldn’t refund me because I wasn’t a BT customer. The gas board said it was nothing to do with them.
Bernadette Symons, Via E-mail
Here’s a lesson: never dial 118 118 from your mobile. It’s not clear why Three blamed BT — it has nothing to do with BT at all. It is Three that charges the high bill, and it says it does so because 118 118 keeps putting its prices up — in the past two years by 400 per cent. This means that a call from a mobile to 118 118 costs £3 a minute while you are chatting to the operator and a further £3 a minute when you chat to the company that 118 puts you through to (in Bernadette’s case, the gas board).

Re: Call charges to 118118

I remember drafting out a letter over 5 years ago to be signed by the MD and distributed to all in the company banning the use of all of these types of directory enquiry services and pointing out the free alternatives.

So a 'normal' directory enquiry (less than one minute) is £1.37 LESS expensive on (Three) mobile than Plusnet.  Crazy

Re: Call charges to 118118

I thought i'd bump this thread back up seeing as on my latest bill a 2 minute call to 118 118 has cost me £9.58.
