Can I keep my same telephone number If I change from B.T. to Plusnet for calls?

Re: B.T. to Plusnet

Thats what happened here with us today. I didn't feel a thing at change over apart from the SMS from PN to say it was now transferred.
(NB. its not just calls. The line is now rented from PN)

What are the benefits of PlusNet Phone over BT Phone?

Re: B.T. to Plusnet

it's cheaper and you knock £2.50 off the broadband package
However for me the big advantage was when I had a line fault - partly voice and partly broadband and having the faults team handling both was a major plus

Re: B.T. to Plusnet

The £2.50 isn't appearing during the Product Change process.
I get a final summary of
Quote
Your new services
Plusnet Unlimited (Contracted): Estimated Speed: 7.5Mb £9.99
Plusnet Evening and Weekends £1.50
You've added a Home Phone service to your account. We'll keep you updated on the order by email
Line rental £14.50
New monthly cost:
This is the monthly cost for your Broadband and/or Home Phone subscriptions - other services aren't shown. £25.99
Click the 'Change my products' button below to confirm your choices.

Which is, on appearances, very similar to BT Phone charges.
Hhhmmm...

Re: B.T. to Plusnet

That is because your product was before the £2.50 addon
Regarding costs
Evening and Weekends - Plusnet £1.50 BT £2.00
Anytime - Plusnet £5.00 BT £7.00
Rental - Plusnet £14.50 BT £15.45

If you take Plusnet Home Phone along with one of our Essentials or Unlimited packages (broadband or fibre broadband), we'll reduce your broadband price by £2.50 for as long as you keep your phone line with Plusnet

Re: B.T. to Plusnet

Thanks, Jim
The mists are slowly clearing.
So, when my Broadband contract ends in 4 months time, my BB will cost £12.49 a month if I renew the contract?
And £14.99 a month if I don't renew the contract?
Presumably, if I signed up now, the £2.50 would kick in at the appropriate time?
BTW Thanks for the BT Plusnet side-by-side charges.
I was thinking of the Line Rental Saver BT £141 - Plusnet £137.88 : less than £4; better than nought but not by much.

Re: B.T. to Plusnet

Best bet is call the Customer Options team,
They may be able to work something out where if you take a full 12 months phone line now, and add the BB on they may reduce the cost from now (I mean why not, your signing up for another year)

Re: B.T. to Plusnet

Thanks for the reply.
Sadly, I was a bit trigger-happy on BT.com and managed to sign up for their Line Rental Saver, which I've just been told I can not cancel.
Ah well.
