Are PlusNet blocking calls to Sipgate

I have a Sipgate Stater account with a 01 number.

I can ring out from it ok and I can ring in on my mobile so I know the account/hardware is working.

However if I try to ring in from my PlusNet landline I get "This number is not recognised"

Any suggestions.

Has anyone used A&A for their VOIP number?Huh

Re: Are PlusNet blocking calls to Sipgate

Has this ever worked?

Has the number been migrated to Sipgate recently?

This sounds like an incomplete port issue. Verve seen lots of these involving migrations from Sky and Virgin to Plusnet in the past. The possibility of similar from Plusnet (BT Openreach) to Sipgate does not seem unreasonable. I suspect you will find that the number cannot be dialled from any BT line.

The VoIP provider needs to contact the industry’s porting forum.

No - it has ben in use for some years but very rarely used and was a new number - ie never ported. I can't remember if I tried calling it from a PlusNet landline number before!

Re: Are PlusNet blocking calls to Sipgate

Pretty sure my Sipgate line has received calls from a PN number fine.
Can’t double check as since then the person that called has left PN

I use A & A for a block of 20 incoming numbers on the office pbx. A number of people on here have ported numbers to A & A recently...

Re: Are PlusNet blocking calls to Sipgate

Ok - I have a Grandstream HT812 2FXS at the moment configured for Sipgate - if I changed to A&A would this be ok?

It has all the correct UK settings so would all I need to do was to use these settings

And is it better to choose an 01/02 number or a 033 number?Huh

Re: Are PlusNet blocking calls to Sipgate

We have an 01 local area code VOIP number with A&A, in parallel with our Plusnet landline number.  I can call the A&A number from the Plusnet phone without any problems, I did it when testing the system after setting it up.  Just tried it again to make sure and it still works fine.

Re: Are PlusNet blocking calls to Sipgate

Ok - getting stranger

I have had two people ring it - one is a Virgin Landline and one from A PlusNet Landline - both got through.

It seems I can't ring it from my own landline - no idea why!!

Re: Are PlusNet blocking calls to Sipgate

@QuantumGuy  I just called my Sipgate number from my Plusnet landline phone and it works. So no block on the Plusnet side. (at least for my number)

I chose a local area 01 number for my Sipgate account, some people are a bit suspicious of 03 numbers, maybe thinking they will be charged more.

Edit  Just a thought... is your Plusnet landline working OK for other calls?

Re: Are PlusNet blocking calls to Sipgate

Just physically changed the phones over and I still can't ring the Sipgate number from the PlusNet number so it's not a phone problem!

It seems something peculiar top my setup

Bit stumped.

Re: Are PlusNet blocking calls to Sipgate

@QuantumGuy

May not be relevanr but I always forget to mention this when talking about VOIP.

You always need to dial the full area code along with the number - even for local calls.
