Chris, Poster on Overclockers is with Zen Internet.

Poster on Overclockers is certainly on different cabinet and calls are same time as calls on my line.  Think either they have targeted different cabinets - autodialers maybe? -  or  local exchange.

Thanks for letting me know.
I've fired off an e-mail to a contact I have at Zen just as a heads up.

An aside question - why when the credit limit (usually £55) was reached were further calls allowed?  Is this a loophole arising from delayed call cost processing?

If your credit limit is set at £55.00 surely, Plusnet would not be able charge any more than that to your account.
You run-out of credit on a mobile - no more calls until you have topped-up.
Perhaps somebody from Plusnet would like to clarify the position on this?

The Credit Limit is set, however, it's not based on live data, they are reports we get sent by our suppliers.
These calls were made all overnight, between 11pm-6am pretty much. The Credit Limit wasn't designed to prevent this kind of issue from happening.
This particular issue with this customer has been dealt with now.

I wonder if Plusnet needs to look at this?  I would have expected this to be a reciprocal arrangement; that is that the limit applied to calls should apply equally to the bill.  I could not find anything about the Credit Limit in Plusnet's Terms and Conditions and I would have thought something needs to be there in writing, particularly if it's possible to exceed your credit limit and be billed for it.

Re: £503-22 of calls to Guinea Bassau appeared on my bill overnight.

I find this strange that in the 21st century live data is not available or am I being naive?
Surely, a credit limit is a credit limit.
Say, I had a break-in whilst on holiday and a burglar decided to ring a few friends from my property  -  Australia, New Zealand, etc  - would Plusnet reimburse me if the charges were over £30.00?

Re: £503-22 of calls to Guinea Bassau appeared on my bill overnight.

The majority of Plusnet telephone customers will not have read this thread.  If they knew they had a credit limit in the first place I think they might reasonably suppose that that was indeed a limit on the cost of the calls you could make; either by accident or by misuse.  If that is not the case, as Chris Pettitt appeared to indicate, I would have thought that that needs to be stated in the Terms and Conditions.  Perhaps it is, but I could not find it.

Well, I would have thought this could be challenged in a court of law if Plusnet tried charge for calls over your "credit limit".
What is the point of even having a credit limit if this is not the case.
Any bright legal minds on here that could answer?

I expect this is a questionable legal statement:

1. What's the credit limit on my call plan?
Current products
Plusnet Line Only (only available with Line Rental Saver) has a £55 credit limit
Plusnet Weekends has a £55 credit limit
Plusnet Evenings & Weekends has a £55 credit limit
Plusnet Anytime has a £75 credit limit
Plusnet Anytime International 300 has a £75 credit limit
All Business Phone plans have a £100 credit limit
Previously sold products
Talk Evenings & Weekends has a £55 credit limit
Talk Anytime has a £75 credit limit
Talk Anytime International has a £75 credit limit
All Business Phone plans have a £100 credit limit
...
The charge for each call will be deducted from your credit limit (up to the maximum allowed for your product) and added to your next bill. At the end of the month you'll be charged the amount that's been deducted from your credit limit at that point. Your credit limit will then reset for the next month.

Interesting thread,  Are we going to be told what happened so that the rest of us are aware of what happened in these cases and we can be vigilant in case it happens to us.  Surely that is in Plus Nets interest?

Re: £503-22 of calls to Guinea Bassau appeared on my bill overnight.

Plusnet impose a credit limit on your telephone call costs so may find themselves subject to the Consumer Credit Act.  In which case the limit of the consumer's liability is £50.  If there is any possibility this might be the case I doubt if it's something Plusnet's Legal Department will resolve quickly.
