1571 Voicemail called me

I have call forwarding active. I received a call from my home phone to update me on my voicemail. I've never had that happen before and can't find it listed as a function  before. Is it a standard feature ? I don't want to pay for unnecessary calls.

AFAIK Voicemail Extra will call to tell you there's a message if it arrived while your line was engaged. Voicemail free will not.

Can't see that call forwarding would make any difference.

It could well be that. These days it's mainly the automated spam calls I hadn't already blocked that trigger 1571 !

In that case I'm stumped - unless the free version has changed.

Re: 1571 Voicemail called me

Free voicemail will call you if someone has sent an SMS text message to your landline number. It'll say you have a "voice text" and if you listen to it, the system will read out the contents of the text. Could that be it?

I've had it happen by accident - when someone has chosen my landline number instead of my mobile number when composing an SMS text to me.

Re: 1571 Voicemail called me

I've just sent my home number a Text. Got an immediate response and call, but not from my landline number. I could listen to the Text and delete it. I also received a Text reply from my landline. Nothing in the Text however.

When I got the original 1571 call, it came up on my mobile as a call from the Home Landline. Todays was a 0333 number.
