0844 numbers

I'm currently on the free three-month trial of Talk Anytime time.  I know 0845 and 0870 calls are included but what about 0844?  A charge of 69p has come up for one I made recently. Sad

Re: 0844 numbers

I thought that might be the case.  But it ought to be clearly stated in the Home Phone Tariff, which only mentions 0845 and 0870.  What about the other codes?  BT used to have quite a long list, showing how much each one cost.  PN implies all Local and National (+ 0845 and 0870) are included - when obviously they're not!

Quote
Specialised Number Call Tariff
Specialised numbers are defined as calls to non geographic numbers such as Premium Rate services, Directory Enquiries and calls to Internet Services. Calls of this type are charged in one of four ways:
  1. Calls that are charged by the length of time you are on the phone. The pence per minute price also varies according to the time of day (eg 070056).
  2. Calls that are charged by the length of time you are on the phone but where the rate you pay does not vary by the time of day (eg 0871550).
  3. Calls that attract a one-off fee, and a pence per minute price which varies according to the time of day (eg 090117).
  4. Calls that attract a one-off fee irrespective of the length of time that you are on the phone. The charge may or may not vary according to the time of day.
All call charges are pence per minute and include VAT.

Re: 0844 numbers

Thanks for all that.  It seems that not every 0844 number costs the same, so I'll try to avoid them!

Re: 0844 numbers

Whoever came up with the complex pricing system for the 0844 numbers should be put in front of a firing squad IMHO.

Re: 0844 numbers

I find it bad that a company purely uses a 0844/0871 number, they use it only for Revenue gain, 0845 are just as bad. Which is why i use saynoto0870 (It even has plus.net numbers in there)
