Re: 070 numbers

I find that for some reason people talk much louder on a mobile Huh  Maybe it's just my perception.

Why not ban hospital visiting?

Re: 070 numbers

I did ring the person's mobile when I couldn't get through on the 070 number from my mobile but they didn't want to use it much as they'd left the charger at home! I think it may have run down as the next time I tried with my mobile I got it as unavailable (i.e. switched off).

Re: 070 numbers

Mobile phones are therapeutic as they encourage exercise. How many times have you seen someone take a mobile call and immediately start to walk around as they speak.

Re: 070 numbers

Thanks, Dave, looks like I'll need to take out a mortgage for the calls I've made!

Re: 070 numbers

Well I've never really looked into 070 numbers, but knew they were personal ones.
In true Ofcom fashion, they have fucked things up with the number prefixes.
How is someone supposed to (easily) understand how much they'll cost?

Re: 070 numbers

If you have a loved one in hospital I guess the last thing you think about is the cost of calling them - intil the bill comes in Sad  The first time you know the cost is when you dial the number and a recorded message gives you the tariffs.

Re: 070 numbers

I suppose its one of the downsides of being retired - you can no longer make such calls from work...

Re: 070 numbers

where I worked any such calls were blocked anyway, as were calls that were essential to my job, I could not get the Met Office for a weather forecast when they went to a national number.
Although we were able to redirect calls to our mobile phones, Handy when in Italy and SWMBO just called my desk as a local call and got me In the Cafe out there, likewise calling back in from the mobile in UK, just a short No 7788+internal extension
That was in the Early 90's and the internal system - about 8000+ lines were on a Siemens System
