05 Numbers - FYI

My bank (Santander) recently gave me an 05 number to call them on saying that charges are at local rates.
Presuming this to be the same as an 01,02, 03 I called them twice only to find I incurred charges of over £2.
So, beware, 05 numbers are not treated the same as other local charge numbers.
This isn't a gripe with PN by the way.

Re: 05 Numbers - FYI

Having had a look on bt & PN call charge lists, 05 numbers seem to be about 5p per minute.
Might be worth having a look here: http://www.saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php for an alternative.

Re: 05 Numbers - FYI

In my experience calls to 0500 are treated like 0800 / 0808 and are free from a Plusnet landline (as with BT). That said I cannot see in Plusnet's tariff list any mention of 0800, 0808 or 0500.
For other 05xx numbers:
Look up number in BT's list to find out category of number. http://www.bt.com/pricing/current/Call_Charges_boo/0025_d0e5.htm#0025-d0e5
Then find out Plusnet's charges for that category of call. http://www.plus.net/residential/tariffs/homephone.html (e.g. g6, g21)
And folks complain that fuel billing is complicated!

bazzer - I presume this call was made before your migration to Plusnet, or from an account that isn't associated with your Forum username? I had a look to see if I could find the call (so I can trace the pricing band applied to it) and can't see any 05x numbers dialled from your line.
