That's more like it and it sounds tasty enough even for me with a streaming cold to eat.

My local Morrison's petrol is a round trip of 32 miles - probably negates the discount Sad

Re: winner winner

How would it be if you (almost) ran the tank dry and then filled up with 6p off per ltr?  (say 35 ltrs @ 6p = £2.10p)  as a saving. .... and probably cheaper at pump prices than your local garage. so add on the difference of pump prices X 35 ltrs....

Re: winner winner

Home made cottage pie...
1&1/2lb best mince beef
Quantity (to taste) of your favourite mashing potatoes
Large onion (coarsely chopped)
3 cloves garlic (thinly sliced)
2 packs sliced mushrooms (much easier then slicing them yourself)
small handful frozen baby carrots
small handful frozen peas
3 Oxo cubes
Bisto onion gravy granules
Grated cheddar cheese (for topping)
Peel and cube potatoes and boil in lightly salted water
Heat small quantity of oil in a deep wok type pan (Rape seed oil in my case) fry onions and garlic till just golden brown
Add the mince and break-up to mix with the onions and garlic allow to just begin to brown
Sprinkle the Oxo cubes over the mince and mix in.
Prepare jug of gravy mix (to taste) pour over mince and onion should be very deep with liquid
Allow to simmer
Add the mushrooms allow to reduce in size and add carrots and peas
Bring back to the simmer (for the time it takes to prepare the potato topping)
I find it takes roughly the same time to prepare the pie filling as it does to boil and mash the potatoes.
Strain (through a large "holed" spoon) the pie filling into a deep casserole dish
Cover the filling with the mashed potato and even out the surface with a fork
Add (amount to taste) a coating of the cheddar cheese
Sprinkle with coarse ground black pepper
Place under hot grill until the cheese has melted to golden brown
Invite us for lunch, serve immediately with fresh peas.
The resulting gravy left over in the pan is out-of-this-world
It sounds a long time but we were eating ours about an hour after peeling the spuds...delicious!!
Enough for two days.
Edit/ For Shepherds Pie substitute minced lamb for the beef. This is recommended as minced shepherds are quite difficult to come by these days!!
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Of course I knew you meant Yorkshire puds - I was just thinking, at least that was the right menu item for Plusnet - surprised they haven't managed to get them into one of their ads yet  Wink  - perhaps they could use them to replace the dog that just got banned  Shocked

Re: winner winner

Should you use hot beef dripping or is it hot pork dripping in the baking tray when pouring the batter to make real Yorkshire puds?  Those factory made frozen forgeries are an abomination.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.
