whose a lucky boy (idiot) then

An investigation has started after video showing a reckless boat driver on the Norfolk Broads was posted on the internet.

Re: whose a lucky boy (idiot) then

Nah, I've never 'fallen in' or gone 'overboard' on a train.
Bloody boats, always knew there was something fishy about 'em.
Seriously though, whenever I've indulged in maritime activities, particularly those involving outboard motor boats or jet bikes, you've always had a lanyard attached to a dead mans switch. I'm guessing he went for the less traditional approach of simply wrapping the cord around the throttle twist-grip. Perhaps thats why not only did the engine fail to stop, but it also failed to return to idle.
The guy in the narrowboat did the right thing - get out of the way and leave the silly sod to swim.

On the live BBC East report, the Rangers said they are trying to get him, they know where it was filmed but not sure who by, they also said they dont think he has a rip cord

Yes - very silly lad - I hope he is OK  though.
by way that's no narrow boat -  plastic broads cruiser -
narrow boats are specifically steel hulled boats designed for the canals in the main and 6' 10" wide and up to 70' long.

Shouting 'Stop Police' is not going to be heard over the noise of the motors and the device probably will not stop a jet powered boat.

Quote from: Euge
I thought this happened in Suffolk?

"Oulton Broad is a Marina and is part of the network of man-made bodies of water known as the Norfolk Broads, although it is actually situated in Suffolk." Confusing isn't it?

Re: whose a lucky boy (idiot) then

You learn something everyday, I live in Suffolk and didn't realise that they extended in this county. I don't have to travel as far as I used to anymore to get to the norfolk broads.
