Re: when are you going to bring them back

A label fixed to the trolleys at my local Tesco reads 'this trolley will stop suddenly if removed from the premises'
I'd love to find out if it's true as I can't see anything which would cause it to happen.

Re: when are you going to bring them back

if you look at the wheels there is normally one with a cover round it, i think if you cross a certain point it acts like a brake.

Re: when are you going to bring them back

several things you can do with a shopping trolley

or http://www.furniturefashion.com/2010/06/12/relaxing_shopping_cart_chaise_lounge_chair_from_omc_desig...
But I think they are being nicked and re-cycled as greenhouse shelving.

Re: when are you going to bring them back

Strat, those brakes do work.  We borrowed (with consent from the store manager) a trolley from our local tesco a few years ago for a production we were putting on, and they gave us a special key to unlock it when we went over it, so we could still use it.

Re: when are you going to bring them back

our town centre Tesco has a strip in the pavement to trip the wheel clamp, the out of town I think has a pole mounted sender and something on the wheel axle.
the crafties in the town centre just lift the wheel over the strip and carry on

Re: when are you going to bring them back

Our Iceland did away with the flag pole and now has coin in slot.
The 'local' ASDA has a combination of large trolleys with coin in slot and small trolleys 'free' Undecided
