Ahem!!, not being conversant with the nuances and complexities of text speak. Someone has just sent me a message prefixed with : sox
Ok I understand I'm not "with it" <decidedly without it actually> but could someone tell me what sox interprets as please?
The sender is hardly in the first flush of youth, but obviously more up to date than I am. I suppose I could ask the sender but pride prevents me....

Re: text

the only context (outside baseball) that I know of is as a replacement for 'socks'

Re: text

Would 'sorry' fit?
Soz is usual text speak, but on smart phone, auto correct selects Sox.

Re: text

Thank You DB, that's the closest to an answer I've had. The message actually was on Skype from somebody who hasn't replied to me for some time (very busy, as uses Skype for work)
But that could well be it.

Re: text

Some options here http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sox.
The Urban Dictionary is a good source of informations about the more obscure.

Re: text

A certain local forum I used to post on doesn't allow text speak, because according to the Mods, they have users who use machine readers to read the forum, which can't decipher text speak.
They tend to get rather upset if people use it, closing threads and banning the poster.
