It seems Mr Putin is wasting money on his spy services. All he needs to do is to turn to the BBC or Daily Mail websites to check the status of the UK Military.

Ever heard of..... " Need to know, basis " ? ? ?
well.... we do need to know that our armed forces are not up to the job.... so that we can chide our government to do something about it...
Strangely... the "other side" also "need to know".... but .... we shouldn`t really be telling them..... should we ? ? ?

Why not?
Nuclear weapons are useless, because they are too dreadful to use.
We waste billions on useless hardware - it could be spent on much better things.

"allegedly the Royal Navy has NO serviceable submarines"
Not quite true though is it because even according to the article "The problems do not affect the Vanguard-class submarines, which carry the Trident nuclear system".
Anyway's who are we supposed to be 'attacking'?

And yet we are still here? Funny that. Your logic suggests that we might jus as well leave our front doors open as somebody can just as easily put a brick through the window.
Let's keep the big stick behind that door eh, just in case.
PS. Mind you, on the other hand

Perhaps I shouldn't be saying this but it might just be a clever trick dreamt up by the Sir Humphreys at the Ministry of Defence. "Yes, minister, we tell the media that we have no serviceable submarines, the Russians will cut their fleet, and we then have the upper hand." That's the kind of thinking Captain Mainwaring would be proud of.
