A heritage railway using a former section of London Underground line has reopened following a five-year restoration project.
It resumed passenger services between Ongar and Coopersale on Friday.

Have I missed something here artmo? Are you a railway enthusiast?
Always good to hear of new heritage railways that reopen old lines stopping them from being eroded by builders etc.

Now how did I miss that!  Embarrassed
I was up there on the Epping Ongar line on its last day of operation by London Transport back in 1994.
(and as I worked for LT at the time I had a Travel Pass so it didn't cost me anything  Grin )

Wow, a thread I didn't start about railways and as usual we're getting quite passionate about it  Smiley
Just shows how much we still love them and why we should be saving them.

Re: one for Sprite that Artmo missed

While on holiday Torbay at the beginning of the month SWMBO, myself and my mother took a trip on the Paignton to Kingswear Steam Railway. I've done this trip a few times before but it is always wonderful and it was a marvelous sunny and hot day which made it all the better.
I'm not particular passionate about trains but this one does hold some good memories. When we got to KIngswear I had a good chat with one of the drivers who let me on board the engine. First time for me and what a marvel it was. Bloody hot, though Cool Shame they aren't allowed to have passengers in the engine during the actually journey, though Sad
