Not sure what is being reported here ?
Did these Russian ships have permission to use the channel ? If not why were they not turned back ?
Any ship going through the channel must be in touch with the coastguard/other ships as it is the busiest channel in the world and has seen a number of accidents in the past.
Be interesting to here more about this other than from the DM report

Indeed, and where was the French and Belgian Navy in all of this?
As for baiting the bear let's be careful - and let's not pay to much attention to typical Daily Mail wind ups.

The ruskies like their intelligence more than we do. They collect data on everything.
I was watching a program about this the other day and in the cold war the ruskies had worked out that buildings / sites that didn't appear on our maps were military / state secret and so they'd investigate these as a matter of priority.
Turns out they had recorded everything. Tidal times, depths of water in ports, the colour of the water, salt content... and that was just for a port near some military base along with the other usual stuff. They'd got every single fine detail that we could never think of - and that was back in the cold war.
To think.. we tend to think our intelligence services are good but back then the ruskies were way ahead. Who knows what they know now and are capable of working out. They're obviously a smarter bunch than they ever got credit for.
I don't really like Putin much but he's still better than Yeltsin who was (IMO) rather happy to hold the world hostage via the nuclear route.

After this morning news we should be more worried about this Kim Jong-un muppet.
Getting bored with the middle east and the rest of that crowd, time to invade this lot I reckon.

And who would be his first target ?
my bet would be the south and if he was daft enough to do that where would it leave China ? Would they back him or drop him ?
Quite likely China has more control over him than we know, allow him to keep boasting and testing bombs to keep the rest of us on edge but China know that the US and other countries have nuclear subs dotted around the high seas, they could take him out anytime, would China let him go that far ?

Well China looks to be the top daddy in that region and maybe an 'unstable' North Korea suits them. As to who would be their first target then I guess America would be top of their wish list but from I have read it would be technically impossible for their subs to get very far into the Pacific without the Americans taking some serious action.

So far, the NKs have tested missiles that have conked out and plopped into the Pacific, and they called it a success (well, they have to keep up the lies to their oppressed and demoralised people!), don't think we have much to worry about, that and they're probably just going to blow themselves up anyway...

Well the last one travelled over three hundred miles according to press reports but quite honestly, the biggest concern is going to be are they able to fit a nuclear warhead on one and if so, why should they care where it 'plops down'?

Well, a few hundred miles is about the middle of yokshuh to lands end in Cornwall, so if they superglue one of their firecrackers on the end of it, then basically they'd just be the equivalent of someone defecating on their own doorstep...

That would be South Korea then. Some doorstep, some third world war.

It'll just be another cold war, they launch nukes, we launch in response, Mutual Assured Destruction and all that gumph from the soviet era (after all, the USSR was basically what NK is now, and look what happened to the USSR, it doesn't exist any more despite poo-tin's attempts to revive it by invading Ukraine, or poking the UK with a pointy stick with their military aircraft & ships), eventually kim jong chubby chops will be overthrown when the people figure out they're just brainwashed pawns in a family-run dictatorship, after all, it's the people that suffer, not the politicians or dictators who push the big red button from their hidey holes in the side of a mountain...

As much as we westerners like to claim putin was invading ukraine to revive the USSR, at the time there were calls from people in that region to rejoin russia as they wanted the protection of their former motherland. Russia obliged without a lot of mess. It could have been a lot worse. While it upset the west, the locals there weren't that bothered by it all.
I can't say I agree with what happened but as long as there was no major loss of life I'm not going to worry too much. The airplane that was shot down though.. that was a disgrace. MH17 was it?
As for North Korea... you would think that he'd have enough sense to realise it's only going to end badly if he were to launch a nuclear missile anywhere but he's a big fat power hungry version of Hitler. Who knows what he's thinking.
