Been out for the day in the car, and crossed many hills, which I could see, so I knew it wasn`t raining  Cheesy  It wasn`t snowing either,  Cheesy  In fact, it`s been absolutely fabulous, Bright and clear, Sunny, but a bit chilly. Feel sorry for thos up north who have power cuts.  Sad
As for monsoons in Spain..... I checked out wikipedia and it doesn`t mention spain, as monsoons are primarily a Indian Ocean area weather type... Roll eyes

Re: nutty weather folklore

Ok.  Have some thought about this.... assume you have little knowledge of how the weather works  Roll eyes and you have never heard of black & white television with only one channel,  or radio, mobile phones,  and you think.....
I`ll become the first weather forecaster...... I`ll sit in the fields all day long,  every day, for a few years, and then when I think I know what is going on, I`ll write a poem, and every one will know what the long range weather forecast is going to be......
Cheesy Grin Cheesy
Some years later, this is the result.
Oak before the Ash....... we shall have a splash.
Ash before the Oak....... we shall have a soak.
Makes you think...... Did someone really wait for the leaves to come out (or drop off....)  every year, and make notes about the weather  Huh Roll eyes Huh Huh Huh
