MADRID (Reuters) - Spain flatly ruled out needing a bailout and said results of extra health checks on its ailing savings banks would be published next spring, as its government and central bank stepped up efforts to calm uneasy investors.

Re: liars

eire said repeatedly that it was not seeking  financial help  and now we all know what happened.
The markets  bond and futures are sure port and spain need and will sekk help

RBs is now trading at 39p so its cheap so cheap  that mickey mlouse would buy it

They're not buying all of it though - only the English & Welsh branches and certain corporate accounts.  The RBS will still exist in it's own right in Scotland.

Re: liars

and geoff  there are not buying rbs's 89 billion debts. The gov mugs are retaining that..  I strongly suspect there will be a run (market driven ) on rbs when the shares fall to 30p

Re: liars

i agree. But we are also mugs in allowing the EU to dictate willy nilly over our lives. That in my view is worse.
By the way  glen  you should get a copy of rbs accounts, It will blow your mind esp the exec bonuses still being paid

Some people have suggested that if the euro goes bust it will be the end of the EU.
So it may not be all bad news !

Re: liars

The Euro is the world's second largest reserve currency, after US dollar, so will never go bust.
One thing I do like about it is that one no longer needs to keep exchanging money when one visits several European countries on holiday.
