just what is a global confectionery?

I've recently tasted a bar  of cadbury chocolate
It somehow didn't taste the same as it used too.
Have the Americans with Kraft bought cadbury
only to replace our chocolate with theirs over here
and visa verse over there ?
So they get our good chocolate to eat there
and we get their Kraft foods bad chocolate  product to eat over here
Have the yanks won
now that we are eating their chocolate and they ours ?
so just what is a global confectionery?
did i eat a bar of Kraft chocolate in a cadbury wrapper
and do the Americans eat a cadbury bar of chocolate in a cadbury wrapper?
and I'm now thinking  not to purchase cadbury chocolates over Christmas
and has this just been a swap arrangement ?

There is precious little chocolate in, err, milk chocolate. Most of it is sugar and vegetable fat. Switch to 70% dark stuff instead - so much better  Cheesy.

Re: just what is a global confectionery?

it went south with the addition of palm oil, which gives it a waxy consistency.  this they were doing long before the takeover.  only the best chocolatiers i.e., kin expensive refuse to use such an adulterant.
precious irrecoverable ecosystems are being lost to dead forests of palm oil.  it is in so many products that it is almost impossible to buy any processed foods without it.
i find myself going increasingly organic to avoid the worst excesses of the food processing industry.  it's limiting to say the least.

Re: just what is a global confectionery?

of course  your both right
even the cadbury brand of  drinking chocolate has lost its exotic Arabian flavours
that now  tastes like cheap mint imperials ,the ones you buy and can hardly taste  any mint

Re: just what is a global confectionery?

A Number of other products do not taste the same to me as they did years ago.
Perhaps it's my taste buds/memory fading as I get older but I doubt it.
