60 minute makeover is not a DIY show.
Proper DIY shows used to show you in detail how certain tasks were done properly. In 60MM it's just "We're doing this and then we're doing that" the presenter goes away, comes back a little while later and it's done. They don't talk you through how to do it yourself.
Doing It Up used to be a good DIY show on ITV back in the 90s following a couple who were doing upa big house. Week by week they'd show you how to do different tasks and it really was a good show. DIY shows on TV seem to be dead these days in favour of TOWIE, cooking and the like. They must be a bit more expensive to make too.

Best bit about 60 minute makeover was Claire Sweeney Wink
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: itva 60 min makeover returns

The worst thing about 60 minute makeover, is that SWMBO can't understand why it takes me days (on my own) to clear a room, do all the preparation and repairs, then a bit of painting/plumbing/rewiring/plastering, and then put the room back to how it was.
She gets so upset when I say that it is impossible for me to fit a new bathroom by lunchtime, when she has just seen it done on the telly !
I blame the program for setting false expectations on us DIY husbands.

Very true !
What stops them putting on a program either in the afternoon or late at night so it can be recorded which clearly shows how to do DIY tasks, if nothing else it might reduce the number of people who end up in the A&E department due to having a go at something they did not have the skills for. Also useful to include what might go wrong if you take unapproved shortcuts.
Such a program would not cost much to put on.

Re: itva 60 min makeover returns

Mmm, Claire Sweeney! I was in love with her when she was in Brookside, and I probably still "would", even if she is in her 50s.
