cleaning my keyboard

Well my kb was getting a bit mucky Wink

I got a tin of "Instant Valet" from the £shop this morning, since I was looking for a foaming cleaner.

Couple of sprays over the kb and a wipe with a cloth, then clean up the groves with a cottonbud and it is like new Grin

I was debating about removing all the keys and the front cover and washing them but this is a lot easier.

No tea/coffee stains on it any more Thumbs Up

Re: cleaning my keyboard

I used to put mine in the top shelf of the dishwasher. Worked a treat for my standard HP keyboards.

Re: cleaning my keyboard

I have one of these which goes in the sink and then onto the washing line.

Re: cleaning my keyboard

Ahh mine isn't waterproof. Its a M$ "Ergonomic" Natural keyboard Pro one.
I've rinsed some under the shower before when beer got spilt on it. But you have to make sure it is totally dry before plugging in again

Re: cleaning my keyboard

I've always washed my keyboards with Isopropyl Alcohol never let me down yet and if you sieve the crumbs out you can reuse it. Smiley

Re: cleaning my keyboard

@Mook what the crumbs? ;-)

Haven't got any IPA (not that stuff anyway) ran out several years ago and never bothered getting any more, since I don't use tape any more (the main reason I had it was to clean tape heads).
I was also good for cleaning the springs in the Acorn Atom keyboard if you remember that far back.

Re: cleaning my keyboard

I don't normally have keyboards long enough to worry about cleaning them.

They normally get battered senseless until the keys start flying off when I'm having a really bad day. Then I just replace it with another cheap £5 job from the supermarket Funny

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: cleaning my keyboard

Cheers Shutter, but I prefer to make my own, know what is going into it then.
Been a craft brewer for about 20 years now, malted barley water & yeast are all that normally go into my beers. ;-)
