The National Archives has published images, drawings and artwork online for the first time to mark the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain. It is part of the Archives Awareness Campaign which celebrates the UK's archives.

Oh yes, remember it well, was always facininated by the skylon, a while after the official opening paid a visit to the site one was able to go into the dome then, a really interesting day, (Then understood how the sklon stood up there) Grin
It was a really good tourist puller, I can well remember talking to some yanks at the time and they said that they had come to the UK just for the festival.

Remember going to see the skylon with my brand new (brownie box) camera, really disappointed that I couldn't get it all in one shot.

Aunt & Cousin came down from Stoke-on-Trent and went to FOB with my mother and me.
A few days later I recall there was an accident on the roller coaster ride.

I am looking for the pedestrian suspension bridge that when the FOB closed they loaded to see when it broke

found the bridge was designed by Ove Arup, but thats all
