Probably one of the funniest lines in Dad's Army written by Jimmy Perry (who died yesterday aged 93) and David Croft.

They also wrote such comedy classics as Hi-Di-Hi and In Ain't Half Hot, Mum.

Some great classic comedy there. We were privileged back in the 60's, 70's and 80's. I can't think of any current comedy that will be a classic in 40 years time.

The era of decent comedy died in the 90s, yes there's some occasional gems today (Mrs. Brown's Boys), but, most comedy today is so badly scripted and just flows like a brick on a flat surface, goes nowhere by itself so has to be forced along...

I recently watched the entire series of It Ain't Half Hot Mum. It was still as funny as I remembered.

Pity it will never get shown on telly again as it's no longer "politically correct".

Best line for me from that episode was "I do not vont nasty soggy chips. I vont my chips crisp und light brown"
