Assuming we are all still alive come Christmas, what are your favorite films.
High Noon I'm sure was always on but maybe my memory is at fault. However, for myself it has to be A Christmas Carol - but only the one where Scrooge is played by actor Alistair Sim.
As an aside and for some odd reason this one has become a New Year's Eve tradition in Germany.

How can you have a "favourite" film ?..... once you have seen it... you know the start.... story line... and the ending... who needs to watch it again and again and again... every blooming christmas ?
We only watch it, cos there`s nowt else to watch that is "new" and "exciting" and "interesting"...
Old films on the telly at christmas are only good for one thing.....
an excuse to slide down on the sofa and go to sleep, after a huge christmas dinner, the likes of which many never see ...

Tongue in cheek there @shutter surely.
There are several films I have watched more than once. The same with reading books or listening music as more often than not there is always something more to discover. Life is not mono... even if many of those old films are!
As for sliding down on the sofa for a snooze leaving all that clearing up to your Mrs, well shame on you. 😄

No @Minivanman not tongue in cheek.... just don`t see the point in watching a film more than once... Although I have done, purely because there was nothing else worth watching... not because it was a "favourite" film.
as for leaving the cleaning to the missus...
again.. No !... I am the domestic god in this little piece of heaven. ! I do the cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing and looking after the dog... oh, and the missus, as she is disabled ! ( foot in mouth there, methinks @Minivanman (oops ! ) )
Ah Well... to quote someone else ! ! ! ! ! ...

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
Ah well. 🙂

@Minivanman I can see @shutter 's point, but maybe he just has a better memory. 😉
Of all the films I've seen, there are very few that I'd want to see again, but there are some (IMHO) 'classics' that I've found worth revisiting.
And in every case, there are scenes, plots and other details which I'd completely forgotten, and hadn't even appreciated or noticed first time round.
As for Christmas films - not my genre at all.

I'd agree with most of that @198kHz, especially the last sentence!

Not mine either, I was just curios to know what others might feel and as a subject for discussion - although having said that, all those film repeats they might have held back for Christmas I'm guessing have all been used up by now what with Covid and all.
As you say though, there are always scenes and plots we might have forgotten but also those that are viewed from a different angle years later such as 'The Black Stuff' which I watched the other evening. Others I'd not give tuppence for but there really are some real gems out there that deserve viewing again and even more than once in some cases.
Step forward 'Zulu'. I must have watch that at least half a dozen times!

I think the only film I've seen more than twice is The Good the Bad and the Ugly, largely because of Ennio Morricone's fabulous score. It's the only film score I've ever bought.

Not one for buying film scores m'self. Only bought the one which was from the film Master and Commander.
Some movies have provided us with some great sounds tracks - who can forget ever forget Cavatina from The Deer Hunter.
