I've just heard from one of my other suppliers that OpenReach have lived up to my expectations. The local optical fibre provisioning (FTTC), to the Derbyshire town where we live, previously announced as due at the end of March 2014 has "slipped" back to the end of December 2014 If any of my IT Infrastructure Projects had "suddenly" slipped by 8 months, my team would have been described as a Wunch of Bankers and I'd have been sued. However for OpenReach there is no penalty for failure to deliver on the previously published schedule. However the faceless managers of OpenReach do not have to face the public/business to explain why they are late. Instead they choose to leak the news through third-party suppliers without any credible explanation. OFCOM should be fining them large sums of money. They have the monopoly so they should take the pain.
