Winter Fuel Allowance

I see my winter fuel allowance arrived in my bank account on 27th November.  Seems early this year Undecided

About the same date for me 27th this year, 29th last year, 30th in 2010, 27th in 2009.
Never understood this Xmas Bonus business, seems hardly worth the effort, gave mine to the local s/h book shop Embarrassed poor guy, 70yo cannot afford to retire works a 7 days week, should have seen the smile it bought to his face.

Re: Winter Fuel Allowance

Mrs P's letter for this arrived yesterday, saying would be paid in next three weeks. Haven't had mine yet. Maybe the costs are being spread out this year.
Perhaps I should check accounts to see if its already been paid in...

Re: Winter Fuel Allowance

PS. Just thought I'd check, although the letter arrived yesterday, it was dated 18/11, as I said I haven't had mine though. Must be stuck in Christmas post Roll eyes
PPS. checked both accounts, it has been paid in.

Re: Winter Fuel Allowance

£200 was in my account on 12th November and our £10s will be in account on Monday.
Assuming I make the next 3 years it goes up to £300  Cheesy

Re: Winter Fuel Allowance

I'd forgotten about the £10 extra bonus.  I see no reason in continuing to pay this.  It possibly costs more to administer than it's worth.

Re: Winter Fuel Allowance

I've never seen the point of the £10 bonus with any of the benefits.
If you're sensible and save during the year then just put an extra 20p away each week Wink
Seriously, I've never understood the reasoning behind it. And it's not increased in over 20 years.

Re: Winter Fuel Allowance

I think it was introduced prior to WFA and has been around ever since. I wonder how much is paid out Undecided
Nice to get the £200 WFA though.  It always helps to pay for my Christmas in Spain Cool

Re: Winter Fuel Allowance

The Winter Fuel Allowance should be 200 Kg of the black stuff delivered to your coal hole. Or maybe a KWH allowance.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: Winter Fuel Allowance

Ah the coal hole. Fond memories of lifting the cover by our front door. Dropping through the hole to surf down the coal pile before climbing up the cellar steps.
Come to think of it my parents must have hated that. I must have left a black trail behind me.
