Winner All the Way!

Let's start the week with some good news Smiley
Yesterday a 25 year-old Brit won  British Open Championship in golf.
His name is Rory McIlroy and at the age of 25 he is already an all time great in his sport.
Just look at the genuine smiles on his face, and the faces of his family. Congratulations Smiley Smiley Smiley

Re: Winner All the Way!

Gr8 result for all involved, but of major concern is the accuracy of the reporting.
How can the reporter state :
Quote
Rory's dad wins £50,000 after placing £200 bet 10 years ago

and then almost immediately below it and throughout the article:
Quote
Gerry McIlroy placed a £100 bet at odds of 500/1 a decade ago

even stating the bookies would not allow bets over £100.
Seems sloppy proof-reading before printing Sad

Re: Winner All the Way!

More than one bet at different bookies?
Wonder if the bookies spread the bet?

Re: Winner All the Way!

@artmo even that link suggests bad reporting or bad maths.
A bet of £200 at 500-1 would give a win of £100,000 + the £200 stake.
Maybe they should just state " A father, family and friends won substantial amounts of money on a golfing bet"  Smiley Smiley Smiley
