Re: Windy Bins

I suppose we can only hope that in the future our grandchildren will be saying "do you remember when we were kids all the houses used to have different types of rubbish bins, and on one day every two weeks they would fill the road with colour... and garbage"

Ah, the good old days. 😃

yeah but with those you have to snip them every time the bin men are due.

With the releasable ties you can take it off the day they're due ...

Except that some people don't consider the environmental cost.    Roll_eyes

Re: Windy Bins

Using ties to keep our bin lid down would be pointless the bin men around here would simply not empty the bin.

Bin men.....out of interest has anyone ever seen a bin woman ?

The Old School Tie - I've not owned or worn a tie since leaving school.

No.

In the interest of equality the council should encourage women employees to transfer to waste management.

Like that will ever happen.

Re: Windy Bins

Round here every other day is an atrocious weather day so the ties have to stay on every day otherwise our bins separate and thats someones car getting hit.

We used to see the recycling go flying off round all the neighbours until i put the bungee cords over the lids. Now we rarely have any problems with the bins.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Windy Bins

I'll not be putting out my black bin tonight as the wind is still strong enough to move it around the street.

Much more of this and my general waste bin will be putting itself out.

Re: Windy Bins

Our recycling bin is very full, and very heavy this week, so we took a chance & put it out a couple of days early, heavy snow forecast and it's no fun dragging a full bin through the snow, down our narrow uneven communal path.

The collection point is fairly well sheltered from the Wind.

Put a twig under the lid, so it won't freeze shut.

Re: Windy Bins

Mine are still laid behind the shed from storm Ciara, couldn't be bothered to pick 'em up knowing there was more wind to come... 😂

Re: Windy Bins

Forget the wheelie bin.......simply put your refuse in plastic bags and leave it at your front door.

I guarantee with this wind it will be gone by morning.
