Who's going to be number 12?

Matt Smith to leave Doctor Who at the end of year
Quote
After four years as the Time Lord on the BBC One show, viewers will see Smith's Doctor regenerate in the 2013 Christmas special.

Should they cast a woman or an even younger actor?

Re: Who's going to be number 12?

I thought he was only supposed to be able to regenerate 11 times?

Re: Who's going to be number 12?

Personally I wish he would de-generate back to Christopher Eccleston.
Maybe then I would start watching it again.
Eccleston gave the doctor a believable dark serious side which made a welcome change.
He's supposed to be able to regenerate 12 times though he did once say he could regenerate 507 times.

Re: Who's going to be number 12?

Having just recently watched all the Eccleston episodes and on the last series of the Tennant ones I have to agree with you.
I haven't ever warmed to Matt Smith although he's had some good moments.

I actually like Matt Smith. Ok sure he has a bit of an odd face lol but he's got charisma and IMO he adds something unique to the show that the previous doctors didn't. I also liked Tennant too but I still couldn't take him seriously as the doctor either. Eccleston I never even watched - boring!

@billnotben:- have to agree with you, Eccleston did gave the doctor a believable dark side.
Although Tennant's doctor seemed to be all hilarity and when in doubt.........."RUN"
Maybe John Hurt is part of the 50th anniversary special.
What ever happened to the Doctors Daughter "Georgia Moffett", surely that is another spin off waiting to happen.

Eccleston was the worst Dr Who ever. Bring back Tom Baker Smiley

Re: Who's going to be number 12?

Tom Baker was "my Doctor" - I grew up watching him (and K9 / Daleks / Cybermen)
A couple of years ago I went to see Doctor Who at the Proms - fantastic experience if you ever get the chance to go.
On another note, I used to live right next to the school the current Doctor Who went to in Northampton and my mum knows his mum Tongue

Yes I still prefer the ones I grew up with.
Some like The Tomb of the Cybermen were quite scary with more than a hint of Alien. You almost never knew if the Doctor would win.
What I never liked about Tennant and co was that it seemed to much look at me I'm the Doctor ain't I wonderful.

Re: Who's going to be number 12?

I don't remember any Doctor Who characters announcing to the world that they'd had enough months in advance in the previous millennium.
Ruins the plot (such as they are these days).
William Hartnell was very good and I'd vote for the return of K9 too.

Stargate Universe

Yes that was left hanging out for a third series as was Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Both were getting better and more interesting.
