Who remembers where this was located - and why did that handle always have coconut string attached to it?

Ours always seemed to anyway.

Ours, like the one in that picture appears to be, was in an 'extension' - b, cold

Or, even worse, is it like the one that used be used here before the bathroom was installed, down at the bottom of the garden?

Normally on a piece of string behind the door

I remember our toilet was next to the coalhouse in the yard very dark no lights 

In winter there was a small paraffin heater next to the incoming lead water pipe to stop it freezing my job to keep it filled up

Our tin bath was much posher. It sat on its own raised platform behind a curtain in the kitchen.

Our’s hung on the back of the kitchen door.....

We had an Ascot water heater fitted making filling the tin bath easier and had a bath every Sunday evening whether we needed it or not

And a gas fridge at the same time

We were torn between either the Daily Herald or the Daily Mirror.

These days none of them are even worth that.😉

Our toilet was in a block of 4 at the top of the yard.

My Dad was an electrician so he installed a light in ours....luxury.

The other three families had to use a candle or a torch.
