Who, What, Where, When, Why ?

RAIN.jpg

LADYBOWER.JPG

Who? Myself & Family

What? Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7l V8

Where? Ladybower Reservoir, Derwent Valley, Derbyshire

When ? Today

Why? Picnic !!

When we left home it was bright sunshine & 19ºC, so we set off for a picnic by Ladybower, and to try out a new HD Dashcam.

As you can see, there was a terrific thunderstorm on the way.

However, when we arrived at Ladybower, the Sun had returned.

We had our picnic, took some photo's of the Jeep at Ladybower, and returned home, again through a thunderstorm !

Jetwashed the Jeep, looks as good as new.

Ladybower is very close, just a few mile away, and during the week the long extra section of road that goes around the reservoir is open, lots of nice views.

Derbyshire, we love living here...

Re: Who, What, Where, When, Why ?

I've been past Ladybower many time on my way to Manchester but in recent times I've never made it my destination.

I really must make the effort.

Keep driving along the Ladybower shore and you will eventually come to Howden Reservoir There is some lovely secluded woodland at the top where the river comes in complete with red squirrels.

Re: Who, What, Where, When, Why ?

Nope !!

I've always had a couple of Jeep Grand Cherokees, the Jazz Hybrid is a later addition...

Filled up my JGC tank after Ladybower trip, for the week I achieved a commendable 16.4 mpg.

That equates to just 33p/mile for Petrol.

And that's for a 4.7l V8 engine.

Well worth it.

Great place is Ladybower. Went there recently. I've fished there a few times as well. A really pleasant day sat in a boat and catching a few trout with splendid views all around.

If I recall correctly there is a great view of the dam with water flowing down the side ?

Arh another nutter from Derbyshire . Welcome. I live just a 2 mins walk from ogstone Res and it's a lovely walk. What makes it better is the derby-sheffield mainline runs through it. Mmm time to go trainspotting again

@Anonymous

Those are nice pics - just out of interest are they from an SLR camera?
If you don't mind me asking.

Yes.....

Park in the main Car Park £2.50/day, and walk down the path, you come across the dam.

There is of course only water when it is overflowing, which is quite often

Also some restricted views from the road during the week, as you drive along the gated road around the Reservoir.

A couple of low resolution photo's from previous visits....

It's a Panasonic DMC-LS80EB-S digital camera      £ 59.99      bought 2009

LS80.jpeg

It's a brilliant pocket camera, excellent for use on Holidays abroad.

It uses two NiMh AA cells.  SD card.

To my mind, it often produces better photo's than my SLR, I do tend to double bank when abroad.

I do often do a bit of photo enhancement, using just the excellent Apple Preview for most general shots, with iPhoto, Photo etc for more serious work, such as family pics.

Screen Shot 2017-10-14 at 18.21.42.jpg

The above photo has had no enhancement today, just an example of the tools available within Apple Preview.

The photo's published in this thread have had minimal enhancement.

The opening titles for BBC1 North West Tonight show water cascading over the dam, it's brief, but it's there !

Re: Who, What, Where, When, Why ?

Did another trip  to Ladybower recently, just as beautiful in the Autumn.

Lots of broken tree branches on the road though, some quite large.
