Where is Scotland ?

Weather forecasts never seem to use the word Scotland, always referring to it as Northern England.
What's wrong with using the term 'Scotland' ?

Re: Where is Scotland ?

Same thing happens to the non-existent Republic of Ireland as far as weather goes,
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: Where is Scotland ?

They probably think you don't have weather beyond the North of England!
But they probably mention it on the TV channels specifically for Scotland.
Where I am is sometimes described as the Midlands or the North East and we are quite a distance from North East England!

I get the Scottish weather every evening on STV, But mainly I just look out when I open the blinds, That seems to be more accurate Wink

Re: Where is Scotland ?

I can understand querying the lack of Scottish weather although I'd never noticed it - I see it on the map and that's good enough for me.
Why should we be given the weather forecast for the ROI though?  It's a foreign country.  Should we also get the French weather forecast?

I don't see any TV forecasts, but 'Scotland' is certainly used on Radio 4.

Re: Where is Scotland ?

I usually see the weather following the lunch time news on BBC, and they always refer to Scotland (often also referring to specific areas of Scotland (so for example reference to the Grampians or Northern Scotland or the Highlands)).  I especially noticed it when watching the news on the BBC News Channel, because at that time of day they also have a signer, and I always smile at the sign language for Scotland  Smiley
