What was your first car and favourite car?

Hi all
I was just on another forum talking motoring talk and it made me think back to my first motor. A 1997 renault megane 1.6e. I loved that car, bought for a bargain £700 with tax and MOT! The exhaust used to break free from it's rear mounts every month, engine mounts were a slight problem and the headgasket went twice but I really thought it was the dogs back in the day! Not only did it have remote control central locking (infra red) it also had leccy windows, leccy wing mirrors and a semi new car smell. The seats were all totally clean and apart from some muppet keying the door and a bit of rust on the A frame it was great! Expensive to maintain though lol
So.. what was your first / favourite / most memorable car?
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

An old VW Beetle because it was quite a challenge with no fuel gauge and a leaky exhaust.

First car was a mini. Had it while still at school (in the sixties!) so I did a lot of memorable "exploring" in it.  Roll eyes

First car was a Ford 105e Anglia 1960.  Favourite is any one of the four Saabs I've had since 1983.

1st car was a Black 8 h.p. Hillman Minx.  column change with front bench seat.
Prior to my Skoda Fabia. ( which you all know about ! )...
My favourite car was my Triumph Vitesse 2 Ltr.  Used to take the roof off when it was sunny, although it was not a convertible... 6 bolts and ..... was a really good motor.. got 120 mph out of it and it seemed to be just ticking over  !! ! ..

Re: What was your fist car and favourite car?

First was Austin A55 Van - price £75; I got rid of it when its consumption was 50 mpg (of engine oil).
Best Audi A6 - price rather more.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Favourite was Frida (for obvious reasons)  a 1988 Toyota HJ60/FJ62 Diesel land cruiser, registered in Sweden criss-crossed the Sahara for 2 years, eventually sold in J'berg 3 years after purchase

And mine, for many years was my Triumph Dolomite. Only car I ever bought new with my own money.

Re: What was your fist car and favourite car?

LOL! Well spotted!
It was gutless really and the clutch on it was awful but i still loved it. Yes I really did shed a tear when the time came for it to go (failed head gasket again plus other faults). It wasn't all bad though, about 6 months later I saw it when I was out in the works van. We were going round the roundabout and I saw it coming along the road towards us on the first exit as we were going round to the 3rd. I looked back and realised the number plate was correct so shouted at my colleague "Go round again". Disgruntled she did just that, I wound down the window and shouted at the bloke "Thats my old car!!!". He smiled and waved back.
It was a money pit but I really did love that car  Crazy

Re: What was your fist car and favourite car?

My first car was a Mark IV Escort. Bought for £1500 and traded in for £1700 six months later towards a Nissan Bluebird.
My favourite car was my third Primera which I had for 6.5 years till last March.
The car I most hated was an Austin Montegro I had for a year from July 1999.

Re: What was your first car and favourite car?

My first car was new 1981 a primrose yellow Skoda Estelle 120L - will anyone else care admit to owning one?
It was an terrible car  from a terrible dealership  and came with various built-in faults. It always paid to carry a tool bag!  Once the accelerator cable came adrift and I had to continue my journey using tthe choke lever to accelerate.  Embarrassed
Another time, the water hose fell off and the radiator started to empty just as I was about to join the M23. I had to melt snow from the side of the road to top up the radiator.
After one service the 'mechanic' left a 10inch spanner on top of the air filter casing; fortunately I discovered it before it fell into the fan belt.
That car was a ghastly mistake and I was glad to get rid of it.
My favourite car: A Ford Fiesta 1.4 Sport - many happy memories in that car with many girl friends and it never let me down for 100,000 miles.  Smiley

My Bluebird had just been written off by a french lorry driver and I was desperate to replace it for a holiday. I only got around 700 from the insurance and was limited as to what I can get. A year later I was able to get my first Primera with only 500 miles on the clock at a very reduced price Smiley
