What's your favorite Sci-Fi movie?

I have to admit I'm a real sucker for science fiction and have been ever since the days of Dan Dare back in the 50s, but what's your favorite?

Mine was Cocoon, until they spoilt it with a follow up and Alien...when they went on to do did exactly the same. Why can't they just leave well alone?  Money making I suppose but hey, watched 'Moon' last night which had a good twist and well worth watching. Proof if needed is it's just one character holding your attention for the entire time - and it's British!

I enjoyed it anyway Smiley

I also highly recommend 'Moon' if you haven't seen it. Good story, thought provoking and well acted.

My favourite is Alien (1979) as I love the design of the alien and the aesthetics of the ship.

Re: What's your favorite Sci-Fi movie?

Of recent Sci-Fi I liked The Martian.

Possibly Terminator is at the top of my list but I like robot-type films (I Robot, Ex Machina). Going to watch Westworld this weekend having seen the first episode of the new TV series of the same name.

War of the Worlds the original one, although the remake follows the book closer.

I have both on DVD Smiley

Interstellar is thought provoking.

The 1950s TV series or the movie, I remember both and they scared the socks off me as a kid, especially the TV one Shocked

I first saw this not long after release at a huge ultra-wide screen cinema (the Abbey, Liverpool). It was virtually wrap-around, a mind-boggling experience. Special effects still bear comparison with today's cgi offerings

Scared me as well.

Certainly seen better sci movies than that one but none were as scary as that, I guess most people who watched it today would consider it as rubbish.
