What's in a Name?

A theatre in Paris has been named after its benefactor.  He put £4m into the theatre which will be renamed the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Theatre. What a mouthful Wink
Theatre Renamed
Try saying that to a cabbie after a few pre-theatre drinks Smiley

Re: What's in a Name?

In a neighbouring town there once was a pub called the rising sun, had been there since the 40-50's, also a grade 2 listed building & had been derelict since insurance claim vandals burnt it down in the late 90's.
My daughter took a bus ride, to get to her work placement, for college, she asked the foreign bus driver to stop outside "The Rising Sun", the driver did not know where she was on about, it's a (Good job she knew where she was going), turns out it is now part of a famous restaurant chain, with some foreign name (forget what she said it was called)

Re: What's in a Name?

In Sheffield years ago dating couples used to arrange to meet up at Cole's Corner.
The corner is still there but has gone through many changes of use and ownership.

Do they still get called lovers lane(s) or do our younger generation call them by a different name / slang / term ?Huh
