What's happening in Qatar

The Arab states, following Trumps intervention, rounding on Qatar for supporting extremism and severing diplomatic links may seem to be of passing interest to the UK. Perhaps it will help combat the rise of organisations like ISIS.

However when you realise that 90% of the UK's liquid natural gas imports comes from Qatar you might ponder on the implications. Will we be exposed to a central heating and power generation gas shortage?

Re: What's happening in Qatar

US President Donald Trump has claimed credit for the pressure being placed on Qatar by Gulf neighbours who accuse it of supporting terrorism in the region.

Has he been Twiting again Cheesy

Re: What's happening in Qatar

@AlaricAdair

Well a quick check here shows that only 17% of our LNG comes in from tankers so how much of that is from Qatar, and are those details incorrect?

The other and far more important consideration maybe are the billions of dollars being invested in the UK by them.

Re: What's happening in Qatar

it wont matter in 3 days corbyn will be collecting the keys to number 10 and all that foreign cash will just evaporate anyway since he's stealing all the companies there investing in

as to lng, it will be the least of our worries when were all living in the socialist utopia of having no cash to pay for anything with and nothing on the shelves to buy even if we had any cash ....

still I wont need to worry about it because being a working age disabled person who's out of work I'll be off to undertake a live-in apprenticeship in one of his new "a job for everyone" scams as per his manifesto publications for all out of work veterans and disabled people.... no doubt our apprenticeship will involve shovelling each other into the furnace to provide heat for the local hospital to save on energy costs following in the footsteps of all those other great socialist leaders of the last centaury

Specsavers time Mr SmallVanPerson: Your quoted graphic refers to 17% of the total gas supply not just LNG. Essentially in the event of some kind of  embargo we'd be roughly 15% short in supply if other countries don't change their usage pattern. Severe weather could affect the available gas coming via Europe as others up their consumption.

17% of the European supply (approx) is Russian via the Ukraine, hence exposed to sudden interruption.

It all goes to show that this country should accelerate the fracking programme.

Re: What's happening in Qatar

wasn't there a big 80 year contract for gas supply signed during tony blairs leadership with some USA based LNG company because of issues with the stuff from Qatar so that we had a guaranteed surplus for normal usage year to year?

I seem to recall something along the lines of congratulating themselves for ensuring the GB would never run out of gas no matter how poor the supply from the gulf was in the future, not that we even need the stuff anyway, its only methane and you can brew that off sewage, we could be making enough as a renewable to supply half of the EU but for some reason nobody wants to do that ....

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm?

I was only trying to clarify and keep it lighthearted at the same time.

Oh well.

its ok really, there out to steal ownership of all private industry and reverse automation in industrial workplaces, they've dreamed up something called "alternative ownership" whereby national and local state bodies will group together to own and run businesses cooperatively leveraging the unemployed as the many hands instead of much safer machinery and there plan to fund this is through wholesale theft of everything you have in the bank valued at more than 40k, but don't worry if your quick you might be able to offshore your cash before corbyn starts grabbing it all on day 3 of being the pm, of course don't attempt to buy or sell your properties in the last decade or you will get a bill for his own special rate of sales tax retroactively applied......

you just have ot love how fleshed out his manifest website is with all these policy documents on it, apparently he's going to steal money off pensioners who's dividend payment is above 1k get rid of the married tax allowance and force millions into using food banks (where the **** is the food coming from?) during the "transfer period" that will last until 2022...

but at least his policies are fully costed out, well so far as they can be I mean he's apparently going to achieve 3.6billion income from scrapping the married tax allowance yet the ons figures suggest that's more than double the amount available) he's going to make 4.6billion from changing asset transfer rules (no more giving your kids a penny without paying tax on it) and another 6 billion from property sales taxes (I guess the flunky name is because he's planning to introduce a retroactive sales tax that doesn't currently exist)

yeah i'm not really worried, if they want to put me in a poor house because there going to stop paying disability pensions to veterans then that's what they will do, its not as if i'm in a position to stop them....

but hey ho, its off the gulag with half the country when they refuse to pay up his new tax regime whilst there starving and he's sipping champagne along with all his elite buddies.....

Re: What's happening in Qatar

just wondering if anyone has read all the socialism garbage on the labour manifesto website ?

I saw this gem slipped into one of the documents

37 Allowance made for additional behavioural change and uncertainty, reducing total tax take -3.9 billion

and its alluded to in others as well where they reference ongoing loss of GDP due to necessary re-education following upheaval during the initial instigation process ....

I am curious if anyone else is concerned that he's been so open about his plans to implement re-education camps and given his hatred of white people (oh yes he hates us all, and has bene heard several times claiming the only thing wrong with GB is all the white people) are any of us likely to survive the process once we get into the gulag ?

Re: What's happening in Qatar

@gleneagles

if only that were true, corbyn's promise to push minimum wage to £10/hr and get rid of tuition fees has motivated the masses, coupled with the tories abject stupidity in their manifesto and the majority of people on the street are either voting labour or refusing to vote

hell I was listening to folks in the pub at lunchtime today talking about the fact that its has to be labour this time because that fella corbyn's really upped his game and its clear the nasty party have it in for the common folk, the sheer levels of mental gymnastics required would be astounding if I didn't know the only research these folks do is to read pro labour press/
