What's Your Desert Island Disc?

I was thinking about my favourite tune the other day and very easily came to the conclusion that if asked it would be without question, John Lennon's, 'Woman'.
If you were asked to pick one definitive tune / song as your all time favourite, what would it be?

Re: What's Your Desert Island Disc?

For me it'd have to be Blur's "The Universal", yes british blummin' gas have ripped the heart & soul out of the song using it to peddle their questionable services, but it's a song that I always have to have a copy of... Smiley
Would like to have it on vinyl too, but I keep forgetting to look for it... Roll eyes

Re: What's Your Desert Island Disc?

Well, if the question could be split between music and song mine would be
Music: The Gadfly Romance. Shostakovich (sometimes known as the theme from Riley Ace of Spies)
Song: Without You. Harry Nilsson.
But given time I could think of many others I'm sure. Perhaps Mook you might consider opening it up to the eight pieces taken as in "Desert Island Discs" plus one luxury.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: What's Your Desert Island Disc?

Well petlew I did originally think that but when I started to think about my 8 I got bogged down with, 'Ah, but then there's ...' and 'Oh! what about ...' so I decided against it, as I assume other would suffer in the same way!
But as this is a free forum, please feel free to post what ever you think is appropriate.
As regards a classical choice mine would be Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D Major.

Its your thread Mook, I'm only making the suggestion.
Like you're classical choice though.

My favourite changes as often as the wind direction.
Depends what mood I'm in.

Re: What's Your Desert Island Disc?

# 1 Who Knows Where the Time Goes - Sandy Denny
But that might depress me after a while so as backup:
# 2 just about anything by Oysterband, but I'll go for "Native Son"
Classical piece:
Beethoven's 6th (pastoral)
