Re: What is the best Free DVD Ripper?

there is a work round,  use Audacity, play the DVD and log it , then you can edit out sections and save them, as either MP3 or WAV

@pierre,  MP3 & WAV are audio files, not movie files.

I used to use DVDshrink when I used M$ s/w. OR if you want a one-one DVDDecrypter.

I used to use DVDshrink

I tried that once but due to the compression and loss of signal never bothered again!
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Likewise, although I rarely have a need to rip DVD's to HDD so haven't spent a great deal of time looking into it.

Re: What is the best Free DVD Ripper?

hmmmm, a way to remove copyright and then infringe said copyright that doesn't cost anything - isn't that piracy?
Before you pull out the 'it's legal to make a copy for your own personal use' card - no it's not  Angry
You aren't making a duplicate here, you are attempting to circumvent the copyright protection laws to make a copy onto a differnt media and witha  different format to the original.
(spoken by an ex session musician who used to make a living from royalty payments before the serious thieving on the internet started)
If you must copy them, buy a decent bit of software to do the job - Aura works very well Smiley

Re: What is the best Free DVD Ripper?

The old chestnut of "It is illegal to make a copy" BUT you aren't making a copy to SELL only for YOUR OWN USE. So I say SOD the MUSIC/VIDEO companies that are only making BILLIONS in proffit  Angry Shocked
I have said before and I will say again, it will be a cold day in HELL before I RE-BUY stuff that I already OWN - unless it is damaged. WHY should I have to PAY for a digital copy to play on my many players when I already OWN a DVD/CD?  Lips are sealed
Until they SUCCESSFULLY convict a member of the public for converting from one format to an other I will continue to do so - and to use FOSS tools to do it  Cheesy
And as to WHY to BUY a ripper is OK but a free one isn't HuhHuhHuhHuhCrazy
