Make Model
On a Vodafone 725 (still got )
It has an alarm that ACTIVATES when the phone is switched of
On the modern Smartphone, it appears that is not a function anymore
Doing some research, seems that it will not be a future function

[quote= http://androidforums.com/android-applications/676605-alarm-clock-works-when-phone-powered-off.html]Back on topic. Im guessing if you want a phone thatl "know" to boot up for an alarm, itl need a lil low power chip runnin java or symbian inside adding size for a function not many care for. Android has introduced blocking mode and with the Moto X chipsets around, i think we'll all be happy to let our pocket computers sleep in the way they were intended
What feature(s) from the generic phone(s) do you miss on your Smartphone ?

Quote from: Mav Although I haven't used it for almost a year I'm pretty sure the HTC Sensation's alarm worked when when the phone was off.
I remember when my old Nokia did that.
I just eneded up taking the battery out of the phone.

Definitely the big plus of 'unsmart' mobile phones - I'm sure I had a Nokia once that needed a top-up charge typically after a fortnight of (modest) use.

Yeah this was a big feature for the older phones.
Now how is it that smartphones use an incredible amount of battery power for apps, yet can drive a speaker and play MP3s for hours and barely use 2-3%?
One feature i miss is blacklisting phone numbers for calls and texts. On my old phone i could blacklist numbers but the smartphone doesn't seem to have that.

To add a message to the Blacklist
1. Tap on the message to open it up
2. Either tap the 3 squared dots in the top right corner or the 3 Lines on the bottom of the phone
3. In the list that pops up you will see at the bottom (Add to Blacklist)
To Add a caller to the Blacklist
1. Tap & hold the number you do not want to receive calls from
2. Tap Add to Blacklist In the bottom of the menu that pops up
Disclaimer
I could not see the feature for 2.1 & could not comment on any revisions in between

more sturdier built phones. modern phones too slim, its got to the stage you can even bend phones now (iphone 6)
longer lasting batteries
better quality speakers, all samsung phones I have used cannot touch the old nokia quality.
