Quote And there are five hips per kilo!"
Quote The company works by collecting the metal implants for nothing, sorting them and then selling them - taking care to see that they are melted down, rather than reused.

Cardboard is recycled by cutting into squares, used as cooking utensils rest, thrown away after one use.
Most other things, a black plastic bin bag in my large grey wheelie bin hides a multitude of sins.
My local Council praises themselves for large % recycling rate, by weight.
However, they won't admit most of this is heavy garden rubbish that used to be left in the garden to rot.
And Commercial rubbish is exempt from targets, "because it's paid for disposal"
But don't we all pay through our Council Tax ?

Quote from: PlusComUK I recycle water, in one end, out the other !
I find whisky works just as well, and is much more enjoyable!
I try to recycle/compost as much as possible, aided and encouraged by Sheffield City council who a few years ago told us what would happen to our council tax if they got fined huge sums by the EU for failing to meet lower landfill targets.
The same council has already stopped the collection of green waste bins and is now trying to steer its way through the minefield of threatened strikes to reduce the weekly general waste collection to fortnightly!

Hopefully they are also budgeting for clearing up the huge increase in fly-tipping which is bound to happen.

It is a bit of a facer I agree. What worries me is I've always have grave doubts about the ashes that are handed back to the bereaved. I can't believe there aren't large amounts of others' ashes there, and what about all the garments, coffin and fitments and so on?
So OK, for this purpose most of the metal is removed with magnets, and then the rest by hand. Where? By who? I'm sure that company do not have equipment and staff at every crematorium.
