What do you call yours?

My mobile is called Mobli and I have just named my Acer tablet as Tabli Cheesy
My car is simply 'she' (my dad used to call his Ford Anglia Bessie).
My PC and laptop do not have names other than PC and laptop Roll eyes
So, do you give any of your gadgets names?

Devices are all named, mainly so they're easily identified on my network, and they're all named after Dr Who companions.

Re: What do you call yours?

Not as original as shutter Grin
mobile called 'this',
Generator named 'Daphne' (it was but together by Dale),
Swmbo's Toyota called 'Trevor',
tractor called 'bambi' ................. cos  it runs like a deer,
another tractor called 'Larry',
Landrover called 'Tenzing' (we've a goat named Hilary).
NAS boxes named Nordenskjold, Nuemayer, and Novosilski.
PCs, & laptop named Ascraeus, Amirani, and Arsia.

Same reason as DaveyH, easy to identify

Ditto for the mobile phone - also called mobli lol. Her's is called the "touchscreen phone" after the way she once describde it  Cheesy Her other one is just Noki... as it's a nokia.
Netbook is called outpost - cos it's able to work away in remote locations..
Car is named after a famous TV character..
Previous car (ford Ka) was called "The can" cos the metal was so thin it sounded like a tin can when you slammed the door shut..
car before that was called "Scruff" cos it was a bit battered looking.. but by god it was immensely reliable with 130k on the clock (highest mileage we've ever had) you just couldn't kill it. I dismantled it myself (nowhere to keep it while suffering bad health) and it just didn't want to come apart - it resisted at every opportunity and really did cling on for as long as it could. I still feel guilty for breaking it now..
car before that was named after another TV character..
car before that was "bluey"...
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: What do you call yours?

My Tom Tom GPS is named in honour of my wife (nag nag) whereas the GPS which is built into my Audi is useless and speaks at the wrong time, it is named after my mother-in-law.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: What do you call yours?

I'm always reminded of 910 when naming computers.
Generally, if it gets an IPv6 address, it gets a name, if it cares not for IPv6 then it sits in the DHCP range and I don't assign it a static IP either.
My phones are called 'phone' and 'work phone'.
My car is just 'she' or 'her'

Re: What do you call yours?

I've yet to meet anyone who's referred to their car as he/him or given it a man's name. Why is that Undecided

Obligatory sexist response: Because men generally aren't high maintenance and need money throwing at them week after week to keep them going?

That's a good idea. Maybe I'll rename some of mine after Star Trek character Wink
